THE GARRISON - Tournament Details

It is time to share some more information on all LAN tournaments of The Garrison.

While information on exact schedule and played maps will be shared a bit later down the road once we have a better knowledge of the number of attendees, we would first like to set some baselines to ensure that everyone interested has a good understanding of what to expect:

1. We do our best to have as little overlap between the matches of our side events and the pro event stage matches as possible. This will be especially true for the side events played in AoE 2 (1v1 and 2v2). However, given that there are a lot of matches in the pro bracket there is a good chance that this will not always be possible. However, we can guarantee the following now already:

- There will be no side event matches played during the final rounds of the pro event (UB Final, LB Final, Grand Final)

- Qualifiers of side events will take place during the morning hours (between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm) to further limit overlaps

- Playoffs of the side events will mostly be played in the first half of the day as well as after the broadcast of the pro event ended to avoid collisions

- Players will be able to slightly move their matches if both parties of a match agree in the LATER stages of these tournaments

2. All our events are designed with the goal to offer all our guest the best esports experience possible. Therefore, we will make sure that all our players get their money’s worth in both potential prize money but also experience and matches played. This means that the on-site qualifiers of our AoE 2 1v1 and AoE 2 2v2 event will not be the end for any participating players.

Rather than reducing the number of players drastically from qualifiers to playoffs, these early matches will function much more like a seeding round that will lead you to different brackets (number of brackets will be decided based on number of players joining) of different player-strength levels.

While the prize money will only be awarded to the winners of the highest bracket, the winners of the lower brackets can expect to take home prizes such as bar vouchers, hardware prizes and medals. We will of course not force anyone to participate in these lower brackets if they would rather opt-out after a qualifier that ended below their expectations.

As we expect the AoE 4 and AoM tournaments to be smaller in player numbers, we might decide to run these in a different fashion to ensure that players have enough matches to prove themselves.

3. The four already announced tournaments likely won’t be the only ones. Players and streamers will be able to host their own events on site and furthermore, once the first tickets have been sold, we will get into deeper conversations with you to see whether there is anything significant missing in our list of offered events.
